1 - Lay out your course as to use the minimum amount of seams possible
2 - Avoid cross or head seams (seams that run the width of the carpet).
3 - On holes requiring more than one piece of carpet, be sure all pieces are running in the same direction.
4 - Allow an additional 6 inches of carpet for each piece.
5 - Consider roughs and sand trap for fills in areas less then 3 ft.wide.
